Besides the fact that I have an obsession in understanding humans, behaviors, brain and science- Lucy provided a little orgasm for me. I didn't expect to watch a mind blowing movie that makes you understand a little more of all the things you've been doing wrong.
You've probably seen the trailer and know what's it is about by now- It is Scarlet Johansson after all.
Just to set things straight, the whole theory that we only use 10% of our brain is not exactly true. The truth that might apply to when we only use 10% is when we are at rest-- in a day average we actually use 100% of our brain. In conclusion of this 10% theory is that it's not that we only use 10% of our brain but that we only understand about 10% of how it functions.
With that little critic of the movie, I loved it-
I walked out and understood that all we do is worry, live in fear, in anxiety and that is what stops us from doing more than what we are capable of-- not the fact that we only use "10% of our brain." Lucy basically finds a way to access knowledge, great knowledge. She is left with seeing and feeling the world with very high senses and grasps the truth that it's not about being driven by emotions but it's by respecting the life you're in, explore and see beyond what you have access of, or at least believe that you can access more of what you can't see. She quotes that she can't feel anymore, she doesn't feel fear. She behaves almost robotic but you envy her; I wanted to be her. I wanted to not feel either and then you think that all the things you've let yourself feel are all feelings that are toxic: because she doesn't feel anymore she has access to strength, courage and survival instincts and the things that we all worry about don't matter; social failures, fear, guilt & some. We exhaust ourselves to love too much, do everything we can do for others and be taken for granted, the constant pressure of being successful, but what does that even mean? your idea of success might be different than mine.
This movie is refreshing to understand why we do what we do and transfers a desire to stop doing these things that are extinguishing us and start doing what we are capable of doing.
Here are some of the best quotes of the movie that I devoured with all my senses. If you haven't seen the movie, maybe come back to it and refresh your memory by reading them and putting some thoughts into them. They are precious, refreshing, insightful, liberating quotes.
